Physical Signs of Dysregulation

The physical signs of dysregulation are important to notice, because these may be the first signs that you see or feel. If you see a child becoming dysregulated, it is best to work on de-escalation strategies at that time and not wait until they are overloaded.



You can also become aware of the changes in your own body as you become dysregulated. You can become of tension, heart rate, breath rate, and many other signs. These can be signs to use your own coping strategies. Making note of when and where you feel this way can clue you into what environments are stressful for you.
