Do you have a child who has to touch everything? Here are some ideas to help support the tactile sensory system. We are born with soooo many more neurons than we actually need, so as a child grows the brain and body work to “prune’ these and keep those that we need and use. For this reason many children are incredibly tactile sensitive.
This may look like touching everything, being sensitive to clothing, putting things in their mouths, etc. The highest sensation concentrations will be on their hands and mouths. Working to add in fine motor and sensory activities help to support the brain connections and sensation needs.
